Alexandra Prim is a freelance web producer at NBC Boston and necn in Newton, Massachusetts.

 

She is recent graduate of the Emerson College journalism graduate program, through which she obtained an Masters of Art in journalism. She earned her undergraduate degree in English, with a concentration in journalism and a minor in political science, from Sacred Heart University in 2008. In the six years between undergrad and Emerson, Alex worked as the sole copywriter of an insurance adjuster agency where she continued to freelance blog for an additional two years. She also acted as a legal editor in the corporate world where she copy edited insurance-related legislation on a daily basis. During this time, she was a writer and editor for Not the It Girls, as well.

 

In undergrad, Alex was the Sacred Heart Spectrum Newspaper A&E editor and the Sacred Heart Pioneer Magazine entertainment editor. She conducted news and political reporting for both and was given the distinct honor of being chosen to interview Bob Woodward when he visited the school in 2008. She was also chosen to represent Sacred Heart at the New York Times conference for student editors later that year.

 

At Emerson, Alex was an anchor for WECB Radio’s weekly news show on Monday nights. She also reported for All Things Eastie and participated in an investigative journalism class through Boston University taught by the employees of the New England Center for Investigative Reporting where she re-investigated a 30-year-old murder case. In 2015, Alex participated in a video production internship at the Boston Herald. Upon graduating, she was awarded the 2016 Emerson College Journalism Department Victoria Snelgrove Award for Journalism Ethics as well as the 2016 Emerson College RTDNA Justin McLeod Civic Engagement Journalism Award. Alex hopes to put her insatiable thirst to know things and share her knowledge to good use as a journalist and is thrilled to currently be working toward that goal.
